When a traditional vertical resume will look like every other resume an employer will review, it is time to stay traditional and simple, but also to change up that format into a more horizontal look. This professional resume provides clear and simple section divisions that will make it an easy read for reviewers and yet highlight all of your background and skills in a wonderfully organized way.
This design can be downloaded and edited through MS Word, and you can “play” with it as much as you want. Add a photo, for example.
One word of advice. The template shows a section for “Objective.” Be very mindful as you craft this section of your resume. You may want to talk about your personal career goals, but this is a big mistake. Your objective must relate to providing value to the organization and its needs, not your needs. This is a mistake that many candidates make, and it is a “turn-off” to employers. They want to see what you can bring to them, not how they can help you. Of course, you have your own objectives. Your resume is just not the place to talk about them.
