Career (Con)Quest #18: Resume Embellishments

strip#18 resume embellishments

Your resume will always be a better version of you.

Lying on your resume is a huge no-no.

If you ever get caught or called out on your lies, bye-bye employment at that company. Also, news travels fast among HRs and you certainly don’t want to get branded as “that storytelling candidate” (or something way more NSFW).

At the same time, every HR knows that your resume will be a “glossed” version of you.

There’s nothing wrong with putting your best foot forward and speaking to your strengths, major accomplishments and stellar credentials rather than point-blank stating that you are super dis-engaged at your current job or are a bit forgetful as a person.

So yes, adding “gloss” is okay, but making up things point-blank is a terrible practice and you should never ever do that!
